FAQ
Is 1cv.ca really free?
Yes. Creating and publishing your CV is free. If we ever add paid options in the future, the core "create a Canadian CV and share a link" feature will remain free.
Do I need an account or email to use it?
No account, no password, no email required. When you publish your CV, you receive two links: a public link to share with recruiters, and a secret edit link that is yours alone. That edit link IS your identity on 1cv.ca — treat it like a password. Save it in your notes app, bookmark it, or use the email backup option right after publishing. We strongly recommend saving it in at least two places.
What if I lose my edit link?
Go to 1cv.ca/recover. You can recover your link in three ways: (1) automatically if you are on the same browser you used to create the CV, (2) by email if you saved your email when publishing, or (3) by answering verification questions about your CV content. We use a secure 80-point scoring system — only you should know enough to pass. To avoid losing access: save your edit link right after publishing, and use the email backup option.
How is my data stored and protected?
We store only what is needed to display your public CV — the text and layout. No account, no profile, no behavioural tracking. Your secret edit link is the only key to your CV. If you lose it, use our recovery page at 1cv.ca/recover. You can also delete your CV at any time using that same link.
Can I get a PDF of my CV?
Yes — you can download a PDF from the page after publishing, or print to PDF directly from your browser. Note: the PDF export is still a work in progress and may not be perfect on all devices. We are actively improving it. Your online CV link always looks better and is easier to share. If you notice issues with the PDF, please send us feedback — it helps a lot.
Does this CV format work for French Canada?
Yes. 1cv.ca supports both English and French CVs, and the layout is compatible with expectations across French and English Canada. Our blog also includes guides specifically for French Canada and Montréal.
I'm a newcomer to Canada. Is this format okay for my first job?
Yes. The structure is designed to present your past experience in a way Canadian employers understand, even if your jobs were in another country. You can start with a general CV and then adapt it slightly for each job posting.
Is my CV really private?
Yes. We don't collect any personal information, use any tracking, or sell any data. Your CV is only accessible via your personalized URL.
Can I delete my CV?
Yes, you can delete your CV at any time using your secret edit link.
