At 1cv.ca, we take your privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Only what you choose to give us:

• Your CV content (name, experience, education, skills, etc.)
• Your personalized URL (e.g., jane-doe)
• Optionally, a one-way hash of your email if you ask us to email your edit link — we never store the plain address
• If you contact us: your name, email, and message

What we don't do:

• Sell or rent your data
• Track you across other websites for advertising
• Require an account to use the service

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Display your CV on your personalized URL (1cv.ca/your-name)
• Enable editing of your CV via your secret link

We rely on a few service providers (hosting, database, email delivery) to run the site. They process data only on our behalf — not for their own marketing.

Service Providers

To keep 1cv.ca free, we use: Vercel (hosting), a cloud database in the United States, Resend (transactional email when you request it), and Upstash (short-lived rate limiting). None of these are used to build advertising profiles about you.

Privacy Officer

In accordance with PIPEDA, 1cv.ca has designated a Privacy Officer responsible for our compliance with Canadian privacy legislation. For any privacy-related inquiry or request, please contact us via our contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Your CV stays online as long as people view it. CVs with no page views for 2 consecutive years are automatically deleted. Share your link to keep it active, and keep your edit link safe or optionally save your email for recovery.

You can delete your CV at any time using your private edit link. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Storage and Security

Your CVs are stored in a cloud database hosted on servers located in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. By using this service, you acknowledge that your personal information is processed and stored outside Canada.

You can delete your CV at any time using your secret edit link.

Cookies and Tracking

We set a language preference cookie and your browser may save draft CV data locally on your device. We use short-lived, hashed IP checks to prevent abuse. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Content Access and Moderation

As service operators, we may access CVs stored on 1cv.ca when needed to maintain the service, fight abuse, and help users when they report a problem.

• Keep the service running and debug technical issues
• Remove spam, illegal or abusive content, or clear impersonation
• Respond when you report a problem with your CV

We do not use your CV content to build advertising profiles, sell your data, or track you across other websites.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your CV data at any time
• Modify your data via your edit link
• Delete your CV at any time
• Withdraw your consent and request permanent deletion of your data at any time using your private edit link
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at priv.gc.ca if you believe your privacy rights have been violated — priv.gc.ca

1cv.ca complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal private-sector privacy law. PIPEDA governs how we collect, use, and disclose personal information. Our practices are built on PIPEDA's 10 Fair Information Principles: accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use and retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access, and right to challenge compliance.
